With the Chicago Pokemon GO fest behind us, and its unfortunate hiccups during the day, trainers everywhere can now hunt for raids with Legendary Pokemon! The Legendaries were released at the end of the event, with Lugia being automatically deposited into the account of everyone who showed up. For me and the rest of the world, we had to wait until today, Sunday July 23 for our chance due to the raid curfew.
Upon waking up this morning, a few blocks away, an Articuno spawned and we bolted out the door. Upon arrival, there was a group of about 6 others who were already struggling to battle Articuno. They failed twice, but after healing up, we joined together with them. A few more walked by and joined us. We had 8 people in total. It was crazy to see the battle screen full of other Pokemon and the large Legendary Articuno flying above us. It was a well fought battle. A few of us lost our 6 Pokemon and had to heal quickly to join back in to deal the final blow. With that, we had defeated Articuno. If I remember correctly, I received about 25 revives at the end of the battle.
Of course, up next was the bonus round. A chance to catch the Legendary bird! With only 7 Premier balls at our disposal, possibly because of the higher contribution of Valor (I’m Mystic), we fed the Articuno berries and threw all we could at it in hopes of catching the Legendary bird. Two of my balls missed, and after 5 other throws, I didn’t catch Articuno. In fact, only one of the 8 of us who fought actually managed to catch Articuno.
With only two days to catch it, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes open all over town for a chance to catch the Legendary bird again, and Lugia as well!
